Garbage collection tuning in Java has long been challenging for Java developers. This presentation illustrates a step-by-step process for tuning the HotSpot JVM garbage collectors for an application. The presentation includes choosing an appropriate garbage collector based on the application's requirements, choosing / refining Java heap sizes and tuning a garbage collector for throughput or responsiveness.
